Last night, Giancarlo Stanton hit his 30th home-run of the season against the Philadelphia Phillies, which is now tied for the Major League lead with none other than “The Judge”. Remember him? 0 home runs in the last 7 games.. you get it!
As great as that may seem, Stanton doesn’t see it that way. When interviewed, according to MLB.com, Stanton says “When you can’t win a series against the worst team in the league, then you know, there’s not much going for you…” Look, we all like winning, but everyone goes through their ups and downs. What’s got Stanton’s panties in such a bunch. Go get some good detergent and wash those suckers out!
Look, Stanton is a valuable piece to the championship puzzle and if the Marlins can’t pull things together quickly he might be on his way out. After all, who couldn’t use a powerful CF that can also play some incredible defense. Wait… didn’t he just drop multiple different balls at the warning track. One of which actually bounced out of his glove and over the fence. I think there’s more to this than meets the eye. Maybe before he speaks out about how his team isn’t putting together winning games, he should work on his own personal woes.
I don’t know about you, but I feel like we haven’t heard the end from the Marlins, and/or Giancarlo Stanton. Not even close. Miami is just 12 games back from the 2nd NL Wild-Card spot, comfortably sat in by the Colorado Rockies. This might just be the fire the Marlins need (including Stanton) to jump up the standings.
The Marlins start a 3 game series at Cincinatti on Friday.
