Adidas promised a private island to anyone who could beat Chris “CJ2K” Johnson’s fastest 40 yard dash time ever set in 2008 of 4.24 seconds.

Saturday, University of Washington’s WR John Ross ran the 40 yard dash in 4.22 seconds- .02 seconds faster.

Only problem is, John Ross ain’t getting no island.

Why?

Combine participants had to wear Adidas’ 2017 Adizero 5-Star 40 cleats and then agree to endorse the company’s shoes for the entire 2017-18 season in order to win. He didn’t wear Adidas shoes during his record splitting dash. No Adidas shoes, no island.

When interviewed afterwards Ross said,

“I really can’t swim that well… And I don’t have a boat, so, you know, I had to run in Nikes.”

John Ross is expected to go into hiding for months just like Ronda Rousey. Maybe they’ll hide together. The pizza bill would definitely be cheaper.
